Mobile Suit Gundam 00V (V for Variations)' is a graphic novel serialized by Hobby Japan. It's presented to the reader as a mobile suit development book published 20 years after the main story/anime and features photo guides of customized mobile suit models. The series still continues as Gundam 00V: War Chronicles (Senkai) which features detailed descriptions of the battles told by Mobile Suit historian Robert Spacey.

U.C. 0097, one year after the opening of "Laplace's Box." Despite the revelation of the Universal Century Charter that acknowledges the existence and rights of Newtypes, the framework of the world has not been greatly altered.
The conflict later dubbed the "Laplace Incident" is thought to have ended with the downfall of the Neo Zeon remnants known as the Sleeves. In its final battle, two full psycho-frame mobile suits displayed power beyond human understanding. The white unicorn and the black lion were sealed away to remove this danger from people's consciousness, and they should now be completely forgotten.

However, the RX-0 Unicorn Gundam 03, which disappeared two years earlier, is now about to show itself in the Earth Sphere once more. A golden phoenix... named Phenex.

The project's story begins with the "Day of Purgatory" marking the arrival of Mist, a calamitous mist that becomes the worst disaster in known history. Life crumbles with its arrival, and strange beasts emerge from it. Humanity seems to be on the path to extinction. 70 years after the Day of Purgatory, the Valks Kingdom begins "Mist Gear," a project that will restore hope to humanity.

He has never been the type to stand out in the class. Kurihara Yuzuru has lived life by avoiding entering the lives of others, staying to himself. The story begins where he has to go to a whole new school, which means new classmates. He lacks any confidence to make new friends, so the fear of rejection drives him into a wish he never thought he would make. This single wish leads to a first day of class he would never forget. Yuzuru will have to make choices that will significantly alter others' lives, choices he could never make in the past.
