A cute middle-school love story.

Rambunctious Kaito Odagiri, who longs to be a hero, is suddenly invited by mysterious transfer student Makoto Kaibara to take up the mantle of a hero who protects their town. But contrary to his expectations, he suddenly finds himself with the gaudy appearance of a kind of hero known as a "Magical Boy"! And though at first Kaito cries "why did it have to be something as embarrassing as this?! I won't do it!" with a tear-stained face, before long he finds himself enchanted by his own unbelievable cuteness...!

A quiet, atmospheric journey through the ordinary life of a young boy growing up in Showa-era Japan. Masterfully told through the scattered memories of seemingly-mundane moments in his young life, this short work captures the zeitgeist of a generation.

The main character Udagawa Gosuke has received his father's dojo, mainly because his father and older brother were made to commit hara-kiri. He really wasn't supposed to get it simply because he's a second son. 'cause of the way his pops and brother died he's got not a whole lot of self confidence so he practices fencing day by day at a nearby dojo. However because the people at that dojo are asses, he soon tries to invent a dojo and a style for people who just enjoy it.

However what really sets this aside from most Shounen is that the main character male and female are actually married (At age 15 no less!) The girl Utagawa Shino is the younger sister of his senpai, and is a bit...weird to say the least. She makes rabbit masks to help bring in a bit of money, although to say that she's obsessed with rabbits would be an understatement. She claims its because "The rabbits will someday reach the moon." When Gosuke invents his new dojo, he decides to make a style of swordsmanship known as "Rabbit style fencing."

Ichinose Tarou is at the age where he's really awkward about girls, but he's been chosen to perform along with a girl in a year end festival. His partner is Momozono Anne, the daughter of his father's boss, who seems to be in love with Tarou for some unknown reason. The two of them are supposed to build a snow demon and destroy it together at the festival, but Tarou would be happy to avoid Anne and do all the work alone. How will Tarou deal with this unwanted intruder in his life?
